Hey all, I just inherited a Gibson Les Paul(that is what it says on the neck). I am not a guitar person at all! I don't own any and I am looking to sell this one because it will do me no good. Can someone please help me find what it is worth! It came in what I assume is its original case with no paperwork. The only numbers I see are stamped on the back of the neck 8 7411 With the color lemonburst written on the case. Thank you for any help!

Who did you inherit in from?

I may be wrong, but the first #8 I think means that it's a 1958 Les Paul Reissue. It sure does look like Lemonburst finish. That's quite a guitar, if I'm not mistaken. Are Nine? AXE? Anyone? Can you guys jump in to help?

If it is indeed an R8 (1958 reissue) they sell new for anywhere from $3000.00-$5999.00 depending on certain things. It could be that a Lemonburst is more rare and more valuable. But, I'm no expert.

It looks very much like this one here in Lemonburst:

I'm almost 100% positive.

Thanks for all your help. Does it matter what year it was reissued ? Again thank you

I don't think so. It depends more on the condition of the guitar. Is she well kept? Does everything work? Anything broken? She looks in good condition from here. Your welcome. I hope I helped you a little bit.

1997? Thank you very much !! How did you know? I am going to take it to a shop and make sure everything works and then try and sell. Is 3000$ a good ball park? Thanks again everyone

on the SN you gave (8 7411), '8' would indicate that its a '58 Reissue, '7' would be the year which could be a 1997 or a 2007. since no flametop R8s were made since 2004(and in 2000), it should be a 1997. and the pickguard gap on the bridge pickup ring is unique to 1997 and 1998 reissues.

also, the SN you gave could also be a 1988 "pre-historic" Reissue. but based on your pics it is clearly a historic reissue.
