For the all mahogany body is it one solid piece or is there a separate mahogany top glued onto the back as with the maple top? In reading the Gibson specs they refer to "bodies", "backs" and "mahogany tops" as if the top is separate, but also sometimes state that it is a solid one piece "body" not a one piece "back". I hope that all makes sense.

AFAIK the originals were simply one solid piece of mahogany.

Since then I have read about some releases which have been one piece as per the originals and others which have had a mahogany cap on a mahogany body.

 

Not much help, I know, but that's what I've seen over the years.
