Retired
I live in Jersey, can't happen I'd have a super great day playing those guitars on your list in Jersey! Ha ha, How do you like your Seagull Big Bill? I am thinking of getting a Seagull 12 string, and can't decide between that and a Yamaha. I was all for the Seagull and then Dietz Music offered me a new Yamaha 12 for $279.00 but they don't carry Seagull. I could order one from Guitar Center but haven't seen a Seagull here yet. My personal opinion, sell the $3K Gibson electric that you don’t play and buy a nice acoustic that you will really enjoy. Spending >$3K on an electric and $250 on an acoustic is backwards unless you don’t care about acoustic IMO

For the price, you can't beat a Seagull. Plays like butter and the tone is great. I would definitely recommend looking into one

Dub-T-123
Huh? To me the difference between a more high end acoustic and a cheap acoustic is much greater than the difference between a high end electric and a cheap electric, especially depending on the amp used with the electrics. Retired posted recently that he plays his cheaper electrics more often than his expensive Gibson. My thought is that if you’re going to spend a lot on a guitar, spend on the acoustic first if you are really into acoustic, because the money goes further. This isn’t really a command, just an observation

S.Ustain
Hmmm.... What do you mean by "nice day"? And are you just ordering me around? Who are you to tell me to do anything? What? No "please" have a nice day? And why only one day? I have the whole of my lifetime in front of me. And the best you can do is order me to have one single nice day? And maybe you mean only daytime... so that's what? 16 hours? That's it? This kind of chintzy garbage, with such questionable value, is why [insert boring anti-Gibson rant here, then explain how to restructure the corporation around your own odd preferences]. Just kidding. What I really want to say is, "Thank you very much. And the same to you." Having my Gibson '87 '61 reissue Les Paul/SG Custom in reach will surely contribute to making another good day. Love music, love guitars.

jdgm
I'll be 56 the 29th of May,not what I call young anymore, but I'm grateful for the years. A mere boy. I am 64 end of June. Have a very happy birthday Mr G. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On May 28 1998, I moved into this house. So this weekend and today has been a good anniversary for me. Yesterday gave a bass lesson, then made some bread. Today did the hoovering, changed sheets/made bed, done loads of washing, swept outside, reclaimed some wood from a neighbours' skip (frames for my steps up the bank), potted a plant and some seeds. Just ate roast chicken, sweet potato, broccoli, carrots for dinner with celebration bottle of wine. And after all that; GUITAR!!! Enjoying playing my Tele. Weather fine and hot, no thunder and lightning or downpours yet! Full moon tomorrow. Best wishes to all. JohnM

Retired
My personal opinion, sell the $3K Gibson electric that you don't play and buy a nice acoustic that you will really enjoy. Spending >$3K on an electric and $250 on an acoustic is backwards unless you don't care about acoustic IMO Yes sir. I do play it though. I waited 47 years to get my first Gibson and really do love it. Although its over the price you mentioned, I did get a great deal on it and spent far less then that. Its a keeper. I went for the Seagull at GC but the guy kept running me around in circles on the deal to order one. He didn't know what he was doing or tried to cheat me so I went to Dietz and bought the Yamaha 12. I talked to 2 guys there that would bend over backwards to help me and they were very kind and helpful so I made Dietz Music my number one guitar store now. One guy told me to call him, Uncle Jim. He said I could take any guitar in the store home to play on my amps. For a week if I wanted to. Yeah... I scraped Guitar Center. Haven't been back there since.
