Jagg
Hi, I recently replaced the stock 490 pups in my SG Special with some SD 59 models. I'm wanting to sell the old pups on ebay, but when I removed them I didn't pay any attention to which was the neck and which was the bridge. So heres my stupid question.....is there any way of telling them apart by looking at them? What exactly is the difference? They both look completley identical to me...no markings or anything. What would happen if they got installed in the wrong positions? I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks, MJ
Dynadude
The one with the longer leads will be the neck pickup, and it will generally have a lower ohm reading than the bridge pickup.

And if they´re really exactly the same it won´t make a difference.
flyingarmadillo
If there's a difference you can measure the resistance using an ohm meter. The neck pickup will have a lower resistance than the bridge pickup.
