dangeroso
What pickups did you choose and why? I’ve got an 08 LP Standard, and am thinking of making a pickup change, just for a change of flavor. I mainly play light to medium gain rock through a Marshall, Mesa and a Rivera. Any suggestions? rdclmn7
It depends on what kind of change you have in mind. The relationship is the following: More wire(Ohms/Mv)= more volume Less wire = less volume, clearer
cvansickle
My favorite pickups are Lindy Fralin 8k/9k humbuckers. I have a set in my LP Classic. They're loud and clear, best PAFs I've heard.
BlackHawk233
I can say don't go EMG, PLEASE. Sorry I'm still running stock with BB pros and will never change, so natural yet can blast when needed.

guitar_randy
I replaced my 489t in my LP studio to 57 classic plus. Was good change.Made guitar come to life. I also replaced my 498t in my SG Standard to an angus sig pickup, which is my favorite pickup so far. I have the 2 498t's setting around still. But I won't pressure or persuade anyone to buy them.I would recommend something different than the 498t.I guess if you are planning on sticking with Gibson pickups, you could go to a guitar center and try diffrent lp's with different pickups and make notes of what one you prefer,or check out you tube vids for people playing there lp with different gibson pickups or other brand pickups. Its not easy to decide from all the different ones, especially seeing that there is no ideal way to do a real good comparison trial from one to the next. Thundergod
Samsung makes these pickups that come with lower end epiphones... they sell for 2 bucks on ebay... given the price it's a no brainer.
Irish1642
ok so I'm newer to the guitar world and the gibson website so I have to ask. Why not EMG's from what I've heard they make a good active pickup
hellion102792
ok so I'm newer to the guitar world and the gibson website so I have to ask. Why not EMG's from what I've heard they make a good active pickup EMG's are great for nu metal and all that mega high gain stuff. The problem is, that's it. They aren't too versatile, and the tone you get is coming from the pickups and not the guitar itself, which plays a big part in tone. What I mean is, EMG's will sound exactly the same in a cheap Ibanez as they will in a high end Gibson.
