Jimmy Page.

Billy Gibons early work

Al DiMeola

Dicky Betts

Duane Allman

Gary Rossington

Jimmy Page and his Les Paul may be one of those iconic

pictures for guitarists.

Now I am sure others will chime in here, but I recollect that

Jimmy Page actually did his early recordings on his beloved TELE.

As well, I think that his guitar - # 1 - was a gift from Joe Walsh.

On another note, I think that Billy Gibbons guitar was a gift from Jimi Hendrix.

Can someone confirm these "rumours of fact"?

I actually saw a Joe Walsh interview where he mentioned turning Page onto the LP. Per a comment I made about Walsh in another post, he simply has always made those he's touched better, including and especially the Eagles.

Picking the best is entirely too subjective. Need to narrow down to a specific music category and then . . .

it would still be entirely too subjective.

I do think Frampton has always been underrated but the best LP'er? Dunno

The best LP'er I ever heard was a complete no name in a blues dive out not too far from the Santa Monica peer many years ago. Don't even know if the place is still there. I just sat there and drank beers through 2 sets and even my buddy who frankly isn't into music at all was pretty darn mesmerized by the guy.

Had the pleasure of seeing Mark Knopfler live at Radio City Music Hall. Lots of different flavors' date=' but his Les Paul through a pair of (red) Marshall stacks was like buttah.[/quote']

That's what I'm talking about. Proof is in the pudding I guess.
