1968 Dove Tenor

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

So happy I found your forum. Great reading here, and clearly dedicated and passionate members.

I am the owner of what I *think* is a 1968 Gibson Dove Tenor, serial #899564. From what I can tell, it came from the Kzoo factory. I'm having a hard time, however, finding any other Dove tenors out there, which scares me. Below are some snapshots of the guitar. It is pretty bruised and battered, but still sounds quite nice.

My question is: is this a rare version? Is it a fake? Any info would be deeply appreciative. Also, any info on where I can have this spruced up (in the NY/NJ area).

Thanks in advance!!

Bobby

Welcome Bobby. I'm no expert at all and never seen one like that although it does look authentic to me. The headstock, cover plate with 2 screws and the logo look real to me. There are experts here and one may come along to confirm or say otherwise but it looks like a nice guitar. Seems like I faintly remember seeing a Dove in the distance back but not really sure. The serial number is on it and you can try calling Gibson Customer Service at: 1-800-4 GIBSON or send them a E-mail at: service@gibson.com

Thanks Herman! I will do that.

Be well, brother.
