N.B.G.
My son has a Challenger II, from about 1982. Flat-top body (like a Special), silver finish, bolt-on maple/rosewood neck, Schaller combination bridge/tailpiece. The original pickups were solid black and completely sealed. There were no visible pole pieces or blades. AND - they were slightly larger than a stock humbucker. The were attached to the pickguard with 3 adjusting screws. Does anyone know what these pickups are? Maybe Schaller, or Lawrence? Maybe a variation of the Les Paul Recording low impedance units? Got me stumped!! N.B.G.
Thanks. Yep, that's the one. Maybe I'll contact Bill Lawrence at his web site to see if they can confirm this.
