Gear recommendation

I started to learn to play guitar on an electric and a small amp. However, I mostly played the electric unplugged, because no matter what I did the little amp sounded horrible at low volumes, just totally lifeless and unispiring. Learning to play on an electric, I think, is a good idea for most beginners since it is easier on the fingers. I still have my electric gear, but very rarely use it these days. I normally only play acoustic at home to accompany songs I sing. So I have no need for for the volume level of normal amps.

Recently I found this great little amp, especially designed for home use:

It sounds great at low volume. So if you are like me and sometimes like to change it up and play an sing with an electric at low volumes at home, check it out. I like it a lot!

It's a great feeling sitting in the sofa playing an electric with good sound at a low level.

Hey, thanks Lars. I'm about to go in that direction myself and have been looking at the Marshall DSL1CR . The Yamaha is a lot more, if the sound is there. I'll be checking it out soon. Much appreciated.

Good luck in your search. Keep in mind that there is also a more expensive version, Yamaha THR10. I have the THR5 version, which is a bit smaller and has more basic functions. It has the same sound and wattage. The main difference is that it has no presets, which I don't need at all. I find one tone I like and leave it there.

Have a look at this:

There is also the Vox Adio, but I just hate how it looks... :-)
