jdgm
Ooh that’s a good question. Hard for me to answer these cause I’m always forgetting a bunch of good ones Rust Never Sleeps Live at Pompeii Live at Leeds At Fillmore East Band of Gypsies Can't argue with that - have all except "Live Rust". J Geils Band! 'Full House' or 'Blow Your Face Out!' Has no-one mentioned "Wheels Of Fire"? Let's just say 'Cream Live'. "Ummagumma" - Pink Floyd Jimi - also there is "At Monterey" which we all know is stunning - and Woodstock. I got "Live At Clark University" from the Exp Hendrix site, a short CD but with the best "Purple Haze " and "Wild Thing" I have ever heard, no s**t. "Festival Of The Blues" (AKA Live at Copacabana) - Muddy, Wolf, Willie Dixon, Buddy Guy. I got this in 1967 when I was 13, a sacred LP to me! I can think of many more blues live albums - Buddy Guy, Muddy, Johnny Winter, Albert King and of course - Mr B.B.King ladies and gentlemen, that dynamic gentleman of the blues. Also in the jazz/fusion era - Miles Davis - dozens of live albums, "Agharta" rips with 2 wild guitarists blazing. Weather Report - The legendary Live Tapes - definitive of that line-up. Pastorius at the top of his game. So many more but special mention must go to King Crimson for releasing more, bigger live box sets than....anybody really. B) What's with all the minuses? jdgm
I forgot - The Doors - "Absolutely Live" Some of the best of their live stuff...
MichaelT
1. KISS - Alive! - It's the primary reason I'm playing rock guitar and using Gibsons and Les Pauls. Alive II was another favorite but Alive! was the one I listened to over and over. I had it on 8-track, LP (twice) and cassette (twice and now on CD. 2. Allman Brothers - Fillmore East - Just wow. Everyone should own this one. 3. AC/DC - If You Want Blood You've Got It - All the power and energy of an AC/DC show with Bon Scott. Great guitar stuff. 4. Iron Maiden - Live After Death - Great album and I'm a big Iron Maiden fan. 5. Rush - Exit Stage Left - Such a great collection of songs and performances. There's quite a few others I'm really fond of but those are the ones I listened to the most back in the 70's and 80's. I had a really good Hendrix live album but have misplaced it and can't remember what it was.

How about Little Feat "Waiting For Columbus"? Jeff Beck has made 3 or 4 fine live recordings this century. I plussed up all the others BTW. I've no idea what the situation was as, when I checked in just now, the only person in the entire thread with a minus was - oh; the irony! - YOU!.........Ha! Ha! Ha!................. ....so I gave you one back in each of your posts just so say 'thanks for being such a good egg!'. Pip.

MichaelT
Anyone got a worst/most disappointing live album? U2? Sorry, couldn't resist. What's funny is that KISS Alive! and KISS Alive II were really big live albums for me in the 70's. To find out that much of it wasn't live was disappointing. pippy
...Anyone got a worst/most disappointing live album?... ...U2? Sorry, couldn't resist... In all honesty I have to say I really liked both "Under a Blood Red Sky" and (the live parts of) "Rattle and Hum" when they were released so right back at ya!............ Mind you I haven't listened to either in around 20 years so that probably says something....... Pip.
rct
Van Halen on the Balance Tour, particularly Toronto, is a great live romp by a band at probably it's height of good. Powerful Rock Band defined. rct
