:oilpit:
I know in a tube amp they hit the tubes harder, causing more breakup. But what about a SS amp?

Murph
I'd say the same. Back around 91/92 I picked up a Randall combo from a broke guy, so he'd leave. I think it was a G60? It was a 1;12 combo. I used to take it to practice, and crappy gigs and, it was a pretty cool ss amp. I've never had another ss amp. I hate em'. But that one could actually pull off a small gig. Sorta. Nevermind. Murph.
SRV-Zeppelin
If you've got a good SS amp it should sound roughly the same. Unless you're using a 5w crap-o-matic, there won't be too much of a difference.
Guitar slinger
It IS the same. It overdrives more. I do that once in a while when I'm playing with my mini amp or my SS combo. If I'm playing with the Tele or the Strat and then I switch to the SG it overdrives a lot further. But the tone is annoying IMO.
