smurf77
Yep, came with pickguard and no case candy. Probably opened it to show another customer and it all got lost in the process. Nothing wrong with geetar and it's quite obvious it is brand new. However, I questioned why no case candy and they have ordered another LP from Gibson but allowed me to keep this one until it arrives. I may keep this one anyway and get a bit of cash back for my troubles, providing I get all the case candy. Saves me having to put on the pickguard. MikeRom
Schawinggggg! Wait, so you're going to get a whole new ax because this one didn't come with case candy?
Stewie
I think there were some other issues with her guitar's finish as well as there were none of the warranty cards etc with it. I was going to ask the question. "Are you keeping this one or still getting the one they ordered" you seem to have answered my question. I checked with my tech and he said that Gibson will not be including a pickguard with translucent finishes any more. Only solid colors. Also I always though that Black guitars had a black pickguard, but the Standard comes, as you see with creme. Personally smurf I would go with plan A and get the new one, and have them install the pickguard while you wait. Then it will be like getting two new guitars! motorcitychick
I have a black standard just like that and it came with the pick guard on, I bought about 2 years ago. I also bought one in Ice Tea that came without the pick guard on it, but it was included with the case candy swag.

motorcitychick
Not all Les Pauls come with the pickguard on it. Not all the Gibson USA standards come with the pickguard on. It depends on the model and if it's a Guitar Center special run. I have seen a lot of Les Paul Custom Shop guitars with and without the pick guard. I haven't a clue why that is, but I prefer the pick guard on the guitar. To me it looks slick.

motorcitychick
I have a 56 P90 reissue Custom Shop Gold Top and the pickguard is on that also. I don't know why I bought that guitar. I don't care for it that much. I guess when I saw John Fogerty play one, I had to have one too! I've never really used it. It sits in the case looking nice. stark
What is supposed to come with the 'case candy'. I'm having an issue with case candy on a new custom shop acoustic where nobody seems certain whether it is supposed to come with or without?? I was under the impression all custom shops came with. daveinspain
If you call Gibson or e-mail support I'm sure someone can tell you what comes in the case from the factory.... I would imagine you'd get; a manual, a truss rod tool and a guarantee card at very least...
Stewie
I did and here is the anwwer I got from Gibson on pickguards Hello, Thanks for writing!! Les Paul guitars with figured tops will not come with a pickguard installed. The Standard will have a pickguard included, but not installed. Best regards, Vincent Vincent Wynne Gibson Customer Service 1.800.4GIBSON I Recently purchased a Gibson LP Studio and this what I got. I am a stickler for anything that came with the guitar I get. I sometimes ask for the packaging (box). 1 warning label on finish discolouration and Tarnish Plating not being covered under warranty. Nut Tool/Phillips screwdriver Gibson limited warranty tag. (hang tag) Gibson Prepack Checklist inspection tag with Model number and Serial number Instructions on how to set locking case combination Gibson LP owners manual. Sorry to hijack your thread smurff I just though I would clear up a lot of misunderstanding.
