Sweet. I love how how all the gbase dealers are charging 2000+ for all the maestro models.

What's hilarious is that when they were being sold new back then, the first year or so if I recall the price was the SAME new for either one. Possibly $50 or $100 more for the Maestro after that. Maybe it would be in a lot of our best interest to bring that to Gibson's attention and say "hey guys, if you brought these back in all their glory you could sell these for the same or a few bucks more than the stock '61 Reissue". I mean, if they're demanding that kinda' price for them, God knows that means there's people out there who want them bad enough apparently to pay that much (or at least HAVE paid that much, and that's where those cats are gettin' their pricing from at least).

And the sok66 was right, other than the Vibrola, the bodies, finishes, everything else was identical on both '61 models.

It would be sweet if Gibson made the '61 ri like that again. I'm not holding my breath. I just ordered a 2001 w/a stop tail. This may sound ridiculous but I'm going to buy one of those parts is parts vibrolas and attach it myself. Id rather live with the old stop tailpiece holes than spen dthe extra 600 or to get a 99-01 with the vibrola already attached.

I haven't seen 'em.

Are they just a SG 61 with a fancy ornamental bridge bolted on' date=' or actually a tremolo like the Maestro?

I shamelessly offer mine as Exhibit A. 2006, one of only 48 made that year. Less than $2,000 new.

Sorry it's not the original '61 trem unit. It's that later one, the one in the mid 60s with the lyre that is on the 99-2001 SGs. It looks just like your 2006, in fact that 2006 has the abr-1 and the same bevels as the 99-2001. Which just goes to show that what Hbomb is preaching is correct, that Gibson KNOWS they are making the 61 RI "wrong"!

I just won this 2001. It's got a much more red finish than my 2006 and its got deeper bevels and the abr-1. Where the cases even cooler back in 2001? My 2006 came with a black plain looking case. Can't wait to get it to compare tonally to my '06 which although is ugly sounds incredible.
