SGFaded123
I have a 2008 SG Special Faded which still has the stock 490t/490r pickups. They are ok but I'd like to upgrade them. What are the best Gibson pickups for a SG? Ideally I just want classic SG tones out of the guitar, think Angus, Iommi etc. Being able to do some heavier music well like Metallica would be good, the stock pickups sound a bit too open for that. brad1
What amp are you using? That's just as important imo as the pickups. Are you using any pedals!
AngelDeVille
I don’t know if anything is a real “upgrade” but a 57 and 57+ would not be a mistake.

I swapped out the stock pickups with Seymour Duncan Pearlygates. they were almost too dark for my ears. swapped them for Seymour Duncan '59s. I really liked them.
