2019 SG Standard Tribute neck same as 2006 ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a 2019 SG Standard Tribute (but have to drive 2.5 hours each way to try it). Could anyone tell me if the neck (listed as "rounded" on the Gibson website) is anything like the ones on SG Specials from the the late 2000s ? (ie: not slim taper)

Thanks!

Hector

From what I'm seeing on Google, the 2006 Standard has the 50's profile.

Thanks Big Bill,

It seems the "Standard Tribute" has replaced the "Special" in the 2019 line up: https://www.gibson.com/Guitars/SG

I'm looking to compare the neck on the 2019 Standard Tribute to the late 2000s Specials / Fadeds that had a thicker/rounder neck, and not an actual SG Standard. Gibson removed the measurements when they updated their website for 2019.

Thanks,

H

I have an SG Tribute 2019. It’s a rounded maple neck. I don’t know if it’s as big as a 50’s neck. I had a 50’s Tribute and that neck felt bigger.

The ‘19 Tribute SG has a bigger neck than my Studio and SG Standard 2017.

Thanks Derald, sounds like it is similar to the Specials / Fadeds then! I'll invest the driving time to go test it :-)

Cheers,
