RIP Preston Thompson

Recommended Posts

I am really saddened to learn this. Preston had been fighting for his life for a number of months, but I am still stunned to hear the news.

When I first visited his shop a few years back, he walked me around talking about the build process. At one point he picked up a piece of shipwreck brazilian rosewood from a stack of bookmatched sets. When he tapped it he described its sound as like a piece of glass, and at that moment I could see and feel how much he loved what he was doing. He was gracious and humble in every way.

His guitars are fabulous and will remain his legacy.
