G Mac
Happy 81st Birthday to Duane Eddy, the King of Twang! I don't know much about Mr. Eddy (quite a bit before my time and I never bothered to listen to him) but, I checked it out and found it to be nice. Big, twangy guitar indeed! I give you his highest charting hit for your listening pleasure. Also, check out his version of "Peter Gunn" for which he recieved a Grammy. Many Happy returns, Duane! jdgm
The Gibson Duane Eddy: basically a fancy L5, not many were made - and I read that about half of them were destroyed in the famous Gibson flood. Filtertrons and piezo pickup, Bigsby, walnut, and it really does have "King Of Twang" inscribed on TRC....wowee! [love] Edited April 26, 2019 by jdgm
G Mac
Wow! That's a gorgeous guitar! Kind of a Gibson-made Gretsch!

OldCowboy
Remember him well. If you'd like to hear another dimension of his talent, check out Duane Eddy Plays Songs of Our Heritage - he plays a nylon string guitar. Jesse Colter was married to him before becoming Waylon Jennings' wife.

G Mac
Thanks for your posts, jaxson50! They're a much better representation of Mr. Eddy's talent! Love that big, round sound!
Dennis G
Duane was the first Rock n Roll guitar hero. HB2U One of the first "concerts" I ever saw was in the mid '50's when D ick Clark brought his travelling RnR show to town. A young DE was one of the main attractions. He was billed as a "local Boy" having been born in Corning, NY. I grew up (and saw him) in Binghamton, maybo 60 miles or so away. He's been around for a while now. Happy Birthday!
