ES-339 Rounded Edgers?

Recommended Posts

HI Boyz & Girlz,

I'm looking to liquidate my 335 and buy a 339 as I find them more comfortable.

That said.

One of the comfort issues I'm experiencing is the edge of the body on the ES line. Looking at 339's on Reverb I'm thinking that some models are more rounded on the edges than others. Most notably the 2014 models appear more rounded.

Am I smoke'n crack?

I'm back.

Further investigation reveals that it is the models with the "simplified controls" (one volume, one tone) that are more rounded at the edges. Is that because they are chambered? What gives?

I think those are the Studio models. The ones with no binding, right?

Yes. Most definitely the studio models but, beyond that, even in the studio line there are differences. It would seem that the "two knobers" have much more rounded body edges.

I don't think the edges of the body are that rounded, but because the 339 is smaller than the 335 it should be more comfortable to play. [thumbup]

I have a 339 Studio. It does have binding, though its black and harder to see. It doesn't have rounder edges. I know because I played a whole bunch of regular 339s for comparison.

My ES-339 has binding on the front and back of body. Therefore it does not have any significant rounded edge compared like an SG or a Strat body.

Maybe the smaller body size of ES-339 is more comfortable for you?
