2nd fret, 4th string fret wear...

I should have taken a picture, but I restrung the J-15 last night with some Gibson Masterbuilt 80/20 12's. The J-45 usually gets Elixir's, but the J-15 gets more experimentation.....

While cleaning the board a bit I noticed a helluva lot of wear on that spot, but I guess time gets away from me and it's my main noodler now. I am very aggressive even when just playing alone.

I remember thinking the same thing after playing the J-45 for a year or two and worrying about needing to refret it, but it's still playing fine for an '03. I play all the way up the board, and will noodle in the easy chair in weird keys so the wear is more consistent. Sorta like a gradual fret level.

But, I was thinking.

That spot is used in perhaps more chords and runs, than any other spot if you think about it. I was thinking about it last night, and then I fell asleep.

I was going to do some math, but I guess I was too tired....

There's your new sig line.

You're welcome.

Yes, 4th string 2nd fret on the 'Bird. 2nd string, there as well. The J-45 Rosewood bought from a seller whose sale listing described the guitar as one which "loves a capo". Actually, it was the guitar's player who loved the capo (probable not one of the spendy ones), and there was a good bit of fret wear all the way up the neck, esp. frets 5 & 7.
