Just A Journey

I had always wanted a 60s era Hummingbird.

Lucked up on a Square Shoulder 68 SJ

Had that fast mid 60s neck. Had The Tone.

Foolishly let it do.

I have a Bedell 64 Dreadnought. She has

good, good tone. But it is not my favorite scale.

So I have a 1953 Southern Jumbo on the way.

Would be hard pressed to frown upon a '53 Southern Jumbo, congrats!

It's all about the journey. My main guitars have always been SJ200s, but I've owned a great many other beauties over the years too, including multiple different iterations of the same guitar. Four different Hummingbirds, three different J45s, two different Doves, two different SJ200s, two different '41 Reissue SJ100s.

All of that was, and is, part of my journey. There were songs in all of those guitars, but some have taken me to places, both creative and emotional, that others couldn't get close to. Enjoy your '53!

I know more than a few folks who find a bit of magic in the heavier built early 1950s Gibsons. Funny but over the decades I have not owned all that many Gibsons - maybe nine in all of which I still own five. And one of those four I let go of I should have kept.

I got Elixir Phospher Bronze 11s on her.

I like this old girl. I have heard compliments on early 50s Gibson necks.

And I agree.
