Yurinaut
I've got a recent dual pick-up model that looks like my avatar. I've been thinking of tearing it down, stripping the body finish and painting something strange on it. As long as it doesn't change the way it plays....I just love that thing. Zaphod B
I have one just like Yurinaut's - sorry, I don't have a pic on my work computer to post. It's more fun than a barrel of monkeys. :)
ksdaddy
Here's a '64 I bought about 6 or 7 years ago as a $100 basket case. It has no metal parts other than the frets and it had been brush painted with white house paint. Thankfully the decal was untouched. I refinished it in antique white. I had W-D make me a plain white guard cut for one humbucker. I found a white (not cream) Dimarzio Super Distortion and then added all gold hardware.... Schaller bridge, Gibson top hats, gold Gibson screws, gold Schaller tuners, the whole deal. The guitar screamed and was too freakin' pretty to play. I sold it on ebay a couple years ago. I ended up replacing it with a standard Special/Junior tailpiece, mainly for cosmetic reasons. Interesting, I also have a DiMarzio SD in the bridge position of that '76 Special and it sounds just marvelous. Anyway, you did a great job with the MM!
