Rabs
Or could just be titled 55mins of soloing :) Gary Moore will always win in my book.. Much better phrasing if you ask me.. Not that im a Joe hater. I just find his playing, I don't even know how to put it.. Less interesting?, just heard it all before (and usually better) ? He is a great player though. cody78
Gary wins by a mile for me too as he was a very special and gifted player. The first album I ever got by him was Blues for Greeny and there is some fine playing on that. Sadly for Joe, I think he came on the scene too late to have as much of a lasting impression. I've never watched Joe and thought 'woah' that playing is incredible. He's a good player though.

As good a player as he is, when I hear him play, I hear no real voice of his own. When I hear Gary, Hendrix, Slash etc play, I know exactly who im listening too. Joe just kinda sounds like everyone else. I have also been listening to Gary for a long time. For me it was Still got the Blues which really got me in to him.. Theres a silly story about that too.. I remember when I went on my first "lads" holiday with my mates when I was about 17.. I had a girlfriend at the time and one night while on holiday I got sad about being away from her and stayed in the hotel listening to Still got the Blues sobbing like a baby :) Lol it seems funny to me now. But I have always loved his passion. A proper guitar monster.
zigzag
Nobody has Gary's power. Nobody.
NighthawkChris
Gary FTW. I mean guitar isn’t a competition, but I prefer listening to Gary “more” than Joe personally.
LarryUK
You only have to listen to Colosseum or the G Force album, then Still got the blues to see that Gary was a master of many styles. I don't think there is any competition to be had. I bet Joe would agree. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqrqO-i8Q8c When Joe can play this, ask again. I think I have a few similar stories from my teenage years too
Black Dog
If Gary Moore were still alive, and he and Joe came to town on the same night, I'd go see Gary. But, I am a fan of Joe's.

merciful-evans
I like them both but I'm not a huge fan of either. I dont have any Joe albums. I have 2 GM albums and the original Skidrow one. This 'battle' stuff is ok for speculation but they are not competing, and if they were it would be a bad idea musically.

It was just an excuse to post 55 mins of soloing :) And really its only because they are in the same genre which I think is why its fair to compare them in what they do... But its not about whos better as such, they are both obviously very good... Just about who you prefer to listen too.
