G Mac
Robert Johnson would be 108 years old today. His influence on blues and rock music is inestimable. He wrote songs like "Crossroads", "Sweet Home Chicago", and "Dust My Broom" all of which are staples of the blues and rock repertoire. He was also one of the founding members of the "27 Club"; famous musicians who perished at the age of 27. Other members include Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, and Jim Morrison. Johnson's guitar playing is often otherworldly, sometimes sounding like two players. It is very difficult to replicate or approximate his playing. He is known as the guy who sold his soul to the Devil at the crossroads in order to gain his guitar skills. Anyway, today's selection is one of my favorites...please enjoy and decide for yourself.
