I've been thinking of polishing my satin finish LP to a gloss top.

Has anyone done it on one of theirs? Did it come out ok,

I've watched videos of it on YouTube and it seems to come out like a VOS finish.

I think it would be ok - if you don't like it, then just don't polish it again and it will acquire a patina.

But please put a black scratch plate on it, it doesn't look quite right without. ;)

We've had a couple guys on this forum with the satin gold tops that polished them out and they came out real shiny. Should work for yours as well. [confused]

I don't know about satin, but I have polished a couple of VOS finishes to gloss without any problems...……. if that helps your thought process any.

Virtuoso Polish... Check out the bit where he does the headstock... If you guitar is grain filled (which his isn't) it should come up like the headstock. You could probably get similar results using T-Cut or the like.

Just about any polish will do, but be aware the two I've buffed up (an ES-333 and 2018 ES-330 HB) had much better / thicker finish on the neck and the neck polished up to a really nice smooth gloss like the high end models have.

The bodies OTOH while picking up a shine, also showed orange peel in the finish. I like it better than the satin, but in my experience they will not look like a factory glossy shiny finish.

I don't expect a full shine. You could most likely wet sand it with very fine paper to smooth it out before the polish.
