Case
My dad gave me this guitar. He got it from his uncle. I'm trying to identify it. My dad says his uncle told him that it was a Gibson. http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p4/tightbred/?action=view¤t=GEDC1477.jpg http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p4/tightbred/?action=view¤t=GEDC1480.jpg http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p4/tightbred/?action=view¤t=GEDC1486.jpg Thanks in advance for any information. tightbred@bellsouth.net

GuitarJunkie
It's a vintage (possibly early to mid '60s) Epiphone Coronet. Back then, Epiphone was owned by Gibson and made in the US.
Case
The tuners say "DELUXE" below the little hole in them. It's hard to make out what they say on top of the hole, but there is an "S" directly above the hole and an "N" directly below it. What is this guitar worth? My brother in law thinks that it was painted black (not original). Would it hurt the value if I had it refinished and added a pickup?

[/quote'] generally a refin cuts value by half and routing goes down even further.
firebirdjake
Cute little refinned Epiphone from the mid sixties, think the other gent is correct in it being a Coronet. Although the refin is a bit of a drag I'll bet it sounds great and would make a fantastic player, LP Junior tone at a bargain price! I would have to weigh in on the side of NOT ROUTING the guitar for a rhythm pickup- this could seriously weaken the neck set and ruin a classic guitar. A refin back to the stock color would be worth considering, but please let a pro do it. I learned the hard way in the past](*,) . Regardless, enjoy the guitar, she's rockin'. Case
Thanks guys. From the ID as an Epiphone Coronet, I found a website, and the cat that runs it offered me 2G for it based on the same pics that i posted. I put it back in it's case and back into the closet. I'm in nursing school and don't have time to learn to play right now, but I think I'll hold on to it for later.

Oringo
That's an early one with an original "New York" mini-humbucker! Hold on to that guitar and don't change it!
