SG Standard early 90's vs late 90's differences?

Hey guys,  lookimg at a couple of SG Standards from the 90's.  Any differences in these times? I read all the good year bad year stuff, not sure what to think.  One is a 91 the other a 98. 

This will be my first Gibson in a long time, so other SG suggestions would be great.  I'd like to go older than newer I think
