Hengist Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Recently got this white 1992 Thunderbird, and am a little disconcerted to see that the serial number and Made In USA on the back of the headstock seem to have been masked off when the finish was applied. I've not seen this on other Thunderbirds, and wondered if it was an indicator of fakeness? To add to my worry, the centre of the section of the body tapers towards the neck, so that by the time it reaches the neck the centre is flush with the wings. Also not a feature seen on my 1991 or 1992 basses. Pic attached to show the serial number thing ... and you can just about see the centre-wing thing on the other - more obvious where the scratchplate (which is flush with the wing) can be seen to be sitting higher than the centre at the top ...
