ZoneX Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Just wanna ask for advice if this is a fair trade. I'm trading my 2008 Gibson Les Paul traditional Light Burst for his 2007 SG '61 Reissue guitar of the week in Antique Satin Walnut plus $350CAD ($268US) cash on his end. http://archive.gibson.com/en-us/divisions/gibson usa/guitar of the week/sg _61_reissue-week35/ Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
01GT eibach Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 It seemed very fair until I saw the SG was a satin finish. Now I am not as sure. His does have a HSC, is a limited run of 400, and looks nice ... Probably okay.
Eracer_Team Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Depending on how badly you don't want the LP and how badly you want a SG Because I'm not an SG guy, you'd have to pay me to take the SG I vote no
SteveFord Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 The 2007 GOTW were all pretty nice. I did find the frets to be really tall on the ones I had, though (Firebird Zebrawood, Les Paul Classic Zebrawood). Can you play it before you decide?
Big Bill Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 IMHO the other guy would have to throw in closer to $500 to make the deal worth your while.
deeman Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I agree with Bill on paper not seeing or playing either guitar. If you really like the SG and it plays well or better than your LP and you like it then go for it.
sparquelito Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 As long as you get to hold and play the SG before you trade, then I'd say it's worth it. If it's a long distance thing, then I'd say no way. Too many things could go south on ye.
Larsongs Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Since when is an SG a higher Line Guitar than a Les Paul? Both are about equal in Stature.. I think he's got the Money part backwards....
Larsongs Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I've noticed sometimes prices for Gear in the UK is the opposite of what they are in the US. In addition to some Gutars, Amps in particular. Generally, a high end Les Paul is more expensive than an equally high end SG. But, if an SG is High End & the LP is low end the reverse can be true. It is true that depending whether either one is an Entry level or high end model it can make one more expensive that the other....
