Not a les paul vintage mahogany... that's a gibson firebrand or "the paul" (I dont remember them comming with black painted headstocks tho so it could be fake), he is asking a little too much for the condition of the guitar... but maybe that's because he thinks its a vintage mahogany... as (few as) there are people out there that dont know what they have and will sell a 59 les paul for 2K there are people out there that dont know what they have and will think any and all things with gibson in the headstock are to be sold at more than 1 buck.

I'm pretty sure "The Paul" came with a painted headstock and that's what that guitar looks like; the bridge doesn't look original though but I could be wrong about that. You're right about the Firebrand - it had Gibson stamped into the headstock. I used to be in a band with a guy who had a Firebrand SG back in the early 80's.

Here's one for sale at Elderly:

Right again Rich. The bridge isn't original. Here's the catalog information on "The Paul." Interesting that the neck is "laminated walnut construction."

I reported the first Ebay auction, and it's gone.

I also sent the seller a warning, regarding federal law and couterfiet sales over a certain dollar amount equaling federal crime.
