HelRazor83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 I'm very interested in a Sheraton. I'm curious about the clean tones using the coil tap in both the bridge and neck. I've heard it described a tele like. My main interest in this guitar is for blues, classic rock, and a bit of (bad) jazz, but if I could get some bright, twang snap for some country chickin pickin, that would be icing on the cake. Any input and/or samples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
kidblast Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 I have one, (I also have a '97 USA Standard Tele, -- as well as have had about 4 telecasters in my life time, - don't ask how long that's been to date! LOL!.) I am quite familiar with how one compares to the other. The Pro Buckers are good pickups, and the coil split tones are very usable, but that said, I can't say that I agree where you'd be dipping that deeply into telecaster territory with these. That's not a knock on the guitar, it's a great axe, but if you want the sound of telecaster, you need a telecaster..
iankinzel Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Like you, OP, I picked up an Epi Les Paul Custom Pro that also has the coil taps. I found that I got more out of the coil tap feature once I stopped thinking of it as "Strat/Tele mode," and started thinking of it as "clean chicken pickin' mode." The coil-tapped Sheraton won't sound like a Tele, but it will cover much of the same stylistic ground quite well.
HelRazor83 Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 Thank you both. I mostly want it for what a guitar like this does. Not really wanting a tele right now, but was cool to know if it could dip into that country twang in the future
