Anyone buy a different CASE for robot?

There is a case on Musicians Friends Stupid deal of the day for $50.

 

I hate to trash the original one when gigging.

 

By the way, does anyone elses robot still have that new smell? I play mine a couple days a week minimum for over a year, and everytime I take mine out of the case, it smells like it did on day one (glue, laquer, plasticy)?

I use a normal Gibson Les Paul case for Robot.

 

the smell is gorgeous!! It smells like the white candy cigarettes I still eat as an adult (they have super hero ones). i know that is weird but it does LOL

I heard it takes up to 3 years for the nitrocellulose laquer to fully cure (cures on the outside then in through the pores).

 

Do you think that's where the smell comes from?
