Gibson Les Paul Push-Tone !!!

...which pickups are you planning to get ? I go for Iommi's and maybe 496R for neck. I try to hold myself as i want to buy any pickup in the market if this thing works... Also i am wondering where all the other Push-Tone owners are? Are we the only ones??? (actually Dragan from FineArt bought one recently' date=' so this makes us 3 :D )[/quote']

I'm interested in the Tony Iommi Signature, 500T, Dirty Fingers and 57 Classic Plus. Not sure what to order yet. I think Dragan wants to get 20 plates orderd before he orders them (custome made) buy the supplier. So it's critical to get more Push Tone owners involved. Hopefully we can get a couple here. It might take some bumps to keep the thread near the top.

My LP Push Tone is working great. No problems. I really like the Burstbucker Pros, and it's very easy to switch to the 490s. I'm still deciding on my next set of pups. I'm leaning toward the 500T/496R. The thing about the Push Tone is the easiness of swapping pups. If that doesn't interest you, a more standard rig might be a better fit for you. Those BFG's are pretty cool.

How is the Push Tone working so far? Any problems? I'm thinking of getting one instead of a studio or a BFG 'cos it's on sale on a local guitar shop.

My band recorded a demo last week and i had the change to A/B the Push-Tone vs. my other main axe ESP M-II urban camo. I finally ended up playing all the songs with the Push-Tone, using BB Pros in the bridge and P94s in the neck position. The sound was excellent and it sounded heavier and more concrete than the ESP M-II (which theoretically is more "metal" oriented with alder body and active EMGs 81)

The ONLY issue i still have (which not specific to the Push-Tone) is the thickness of the neck (50's) which is noticeably thicker than the ESP's, making it more difficult to shred or play fast after around the 15th fret

The comparison with the Studio and the BFG i guess is because of the half price they have compared to the Push-Tone? Because otherwise the PT is a higher league overall and we don't even need to elaborate on this i think. Actually i was considering of buying a Gary Moore BFG (1000 euros) but this thought stopped automatically as soon as i played the first notes on the Push-Tone (without amp)

If you're still considering the Push-Tone i say GO FOR IT!

- 1000 pcs limited edition. you 'll be in the gang of "3" in which BigKahune, FineArt and I belong =P~)

- ability to easily interchange pickups (and actually "find" your tone, if you still haven't)

- mahogany body/neck, AAA maple top, ebony fretboard (killer combination)

- weird look, far from the "classic" LP's looks (one could say that a "sunburst" looks better, but the point is about originality)

Come on! "she"'s waiting!

Regards, let us know of your final decision

Recently acquired a Push Tone based on the pickup switching technology. Really nice guitar! I thought there would be no way Gibson would make more pup's available as only 1000 were made. It's great that you guys have found someone who can replicate the technology and that Gibson was willing to let them do it. I am interested in the 496/500 configuration like Big Kahune. Just before I got the Push Tone, I acquired a Les Paul Classic for that reason (and because they have been discontinued). If I can get the pup's, I can cut out one more guitar. Have you all gotten a price estimate from your source? Can you use non-Gibson pup's like Lollar or Fralin as long as they are standard size?

Recently acquired a Push Tone...

Congrats on the LP Push Tone. I love mine' date=' and really like it with the trem on it.

The baseplate assemblies/mounts are going to be about 29 euros each (if you want to get your own pups which is what I"m going to do). He's working on getting the proper connectors for the 'quick connect' plug (he will send you what you need if you get you're using own pups). When he gets the quick plugs set, he's going to start production. His name Dragan and he writes in excellent english. Send him an email at:

fineart@t-online.de

Dragan will add you to the email list and keep you informed of developments.

I don't see why not. To be sure ask Dragan when you email him.

BTW, credit goes to Guitareal for getting this going with Dragan.

Perect! Another Push-Tone brother!!! Welcome Scottnknox

Regarding your question: YES, Dragan can handle any, other than Gibson, pickup as long as its dimensions are "normal". I have ordered some Bare Knuckle pickups, along with an Iommi sig., so i am not only guessing here.

The rest is like BigKahune says. Personally, I have not received a final clear answer about the assembly's cost, but i 've already sent a reminder to Dragan about this.

Since both of you are considering the 496/500 conbination, maybe i should have a closer look. Initially i rejected them 'cause i read that they way too hot and they cannot handle clean tones at all. So, i picked an Iommi sig. and decided to look around for some other "boutique" pups. By the way, if you have any experience with Bare Knuckle pups i 'd appreciate your comments.

Hi, Guitareal - I'm thinking the higher output pups (like the Iommi Sig and the 496/500) might need higher pots - like 500K or 1meg - to sound better. Do you know the spec on the Push Tone factory pots? Any ideas on that?

The Push-Tone has 500K pots, according to Dragan...

Actually, i asked Dragan exactly the same thing few days ago, here's what he said:

"but in my experience a humbucker will sound just the same with a 250kOhm pot as it will with a 500kOhm...but again there are some specialist out there that are of different oppinion.

The puch tone pots are 500kOhm and the new pots are from Switzerland... I actually bumped into the company on the Frankfurt´s Music Venue this month...that manufacture the complete baseplate for the oush tone. The pots are of real excellent quality!!!"

HELLO!!! it's been a long time... but the questions remain:

- Any new Push-Tone owners???

- Has anyone heard from fineArt on the pickup replacement project???

Maybe we should gather our strengths and push the issue (after all we are the PUSH-tone owners!) [biggrin]

Regards!

Hi Guitareal

At some point last year Dragan stopped answering my email. I'm not sure what happened.

I'd still like to purchase a couple pair.

Same here! That's why i though we should re-activate the thread...

Before anyone spends a lot on having custom pickups made, House of Guitars has a rack full of Push-Tone pickups. I don't know exactly what they had, but I saw open-coil black humbuckers and a mini-humbucker. They would all be Gibson pickups, of course, but it would probably be cheaper than having them made specially.

You can call at (585) 544-3500.
