Guitar Rig 3 Plus What?

Carbonite

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I am considering a purchase of Guitar Rig 3.

I have a high powered computer but I went lax on my speakers at the time. So I am wondering, what are some good speakers to use for playing music through them? I would like something quality.

Also I am considering a good headset. Anybody have any advice there?

I would definitely avoid headphones for mixing unless you have a need to play incredibly quietly - particularly if you're going to be mixing tracks.

Take a CD that you're really familiar with to a store and play it through their selection of speakers; that's how I picked out my speakers. I use an Altec Lansing 5.1 system; I don't know the model but I've had them for years so they're probably discontinued anyway and weren't top of the line but sounded great for the money.

My intent is basically to use this as my amp at home. I figured if I got guitar rig I could get a lot of sounds for way less than the amount of crap I would need to buy to get what it gives. Plus, I am just learning so I don't need a fancy tube amp just yet.

I would like to practice while the girlfriend is sleeping so headphones are a must.

Get some decent near-field active monitors' date=' spend as much as you possibly can. Look at offerings from Yamaha, Tannoy, Mackie etc.[/quote']

Hey, how do these connect to the computer?

The cheapest of these with a sub woofer is this set: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EXO21/

But I don't see any standard computer type jacks on it.

Wow, this is what I was looking for though. I didn't even know this kind of quality was out there. I mean, look at these: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/8130PowerPak/

Since you are on a microsoft machine - You need an audio interface with low latency ASIO driver.

what do you wish to record? [/quote']

Well, I don't know if I intend to record anything just yet. I just want quality sound with the Guitar Rig software. I imagine if I can record at first it would be just to record my playing to see my own progress or to send it to someone else to hear.

At the moment I just want quality sound.

Don't bother with a surround sound setup, stereo is what you need. I think the full version of guitar rig comes with it's own audio interface, just use that.

If you buy the software only version of guitar rig, you will need an audio interface but make sure it has a guitar specific input. If it has line in only it won't work.

Getting the full Kontrol edition. Just need the speakers and/or headphones really.

You wil need a sound card/audio interface to plug in the guitar and speakers. Guitar Rig has lots of usable sounds to play and record with. However, don't expect it to sound quite like a tube amp. What software are going to use to record? I would suggest Cubase. Check it out here:
