guitarpiper Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Hey everyone, I found what is labeled as a 2015 Les Paul Special Double Cut. The back of the headstock does say that it's a 2015 model and the front has the "Les Paul 100" logo that was on all the Les Pauls from that year. The weird thing about this one is that it has a couple covered humbuckers instead of the P90's and regular antique tuners instead of the G-Force system they put on all of the 2015's. I'm trying to figure out if these are mods, or if it was available like this from the factory. Anyone know anything?
guitarpiper Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 Unfortunately the file size restriction is pretty, well, restricting, so I had to make the image pretty small to fit. But hopefully this is better than nothing. The finish is actually cherry red in case it's hard to tell in the small image / bad light.
merciful-evans Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 A 3rd party image host site is the way to go. It does look like a modified special, though that nut looks like the original brass. Gibson made a gratis titanium replacement for this (fitting into the brass base). Most people attended to this right away as strings soon wore ruts into the brass zero fret. Depending on what pickups are fitted, and whether a titanium nut could still be sourced, it would interest me for one. I played a bunch of them in 2015, but disliked the P90 sound.
