One other point, Hoyt. The doctors and nurses who cared for my father in law were incredibly compassionate, kind, and did EVERYTHING, in my opinion, to save my father in law. And even though his health was just too bad, they gave us a little extra time to say goodbye to him. And for that, I'd pay ANY amount of money. They deserve every penny they EARNED.

The ICU costs were over $200,000.00 alone. Because he had good insurance (NOT MCARE OR MCAID) the cost to his surviving family - $400.00. Well worth working and paying for private insurance over the years. The cost of the insurance, vs the cost of the savings = a no brainer for us capitalists.

Growing Broccoli

Broccoli grows well in raised beds, the open soil or in wide rows. The plants do not produce heads during the hottest summer weather, so, in other words, broccoli is a spring or fall crop. Cut short stems when harvesting and new heads will form lower on the same stalk.

I'm glad your dad got good care. Sorry for your loss.

Having been to your town more times than I care to remember, I know the people who are not likely to get such compassion there. But, that's another story/topic and why I don't think "private charity" is the answer for many people in many areas of the country.

Early Flowering Rhododendrons

RhododendronPacific In the Northwest one of the most popular garden shrubs is the rhododendron. One of the greatest advantages of this shrub is that it is evergreen and many varieties flower at varying times of the year. In fact, by proper selection of varieties it's possible to have continual flowering for up to six months or more. In this article we’ll discuss a few of the early flowering varieties.

At a time when there is not much flower color in the garden it is nice to be able to include plants that provide early color. The early flowering rhododendrons vary in color from beautiful pinks, rose, reds, yellows, whites, purples and lavenders.

Growing heights of these early varieties of rhododendrons vary from about two feet high, to varieties that may grow into small trees when mature.

Whenever possible, these early flowering varieties are best planted in a location in the garden where they will be protected from late winter frosts, that could possibly damage buds or flowers.

I think one of the most important factors in selecting any plant, but particularly rhododendrons, is to select varieties that have attractive foliage. The plants are in bloom for only about three or four weeks, so the rest of the year you are looking at foliage. So good leaf color and pleasing textures are important considerations when choosing rhododendrons.

It is estimated that there are close to one thousand species and thousands of varieties of rhododendrons. So with this wide selection it should be fairly easy to choose one with the right flower color; attractive foliage and a growing habit to meet the needs of any location in the garden.

Really...where does this right to healthcare come from? What other "rights" are you loonie libs going to invent? Who/what gives us these rights and who/what guarentys them?

It's really not a "right" per se; but it is what advanced societies do. Well, except here in America where right wingers can't stand for a nickel to be taken from their pockets. Listening to them whine about a 3% tax increase is just hilarious and almost makes the bush years worth it.

Do you live in an "enlightened" "advanced" society? How much tax did you pay last year? What percentage of your wealth did you pay in taxes, charitable giving and healthcare? Just curious, as you socialists are always very giving when it comes to somebody elses money.

If you can't make ends meet with a 3% increase on the next $100K you earn, I suggest you get another job or work harder. Isn't that what you right wingers tell other poor people? Quit whining.

You don't pay taxes? You can't answer any of my questions? I'll make ends meet just fine, it just gets tiring, carrying around a bunch of lazy, useless socialists.

I'll bet you a dollar.

He smokes pot......

Murph.

Come on Murph. Is that the liberal stereotype? That's low. Even for you. Find an argument to counter his. DemOOn is better at debating.

Well, after paying the same bush rate on your first $250K of net income, if you can't afford the $3000 extra on the next $100K, you need to see a financial counselor. Quit whining.
