I wonder if the high bidder is a spoof bidder! considering he has 0 feedback...

Font on the serial number is too large......

Diamond inlay on the headstock is too small...

Yet another fake!!

Well spotted.

"completely new, NO CASE" what did he do with the case (if it was original).

Arent Custom shops supposed to have no "made in usa" below the SN?

I really think we (gibson using members of the gibson forum) shuold do something about this... ebay lets lots of people sell counterfeit guitars... i hate to see people getting robbed like this! Isnt there something we can do?

Fake. If it were a Custom Shop guitar it wouldn't have the Gibson USA format serial number. It says 02 but the serial number is an 05 from the looks of it, also they do not put white in the serial number and stampings. The sticker on the control cavity is not right, the split diamond is wrong, The TRC engraving looks funky. The Les Paul and Custom on it are slanted to line up with the top screw, so if the guitar were viewed on it's side it would slant upward, when it should be parallel to the floor (or whatever surface) if the guitar were on it's side. A few other tells as well. Run away from this one.

That I can see the inlay in the headstock is the only true evidence that it could be junk. He might not know how to read SNs and some dope could have put that sticker on the pot bay cover. Are the numbers white or is it just reflection. Probably an Asian copy.

But as it has been said here, there are other factors that would lead one to believe the entire auction if bogus - bad photos coupled with fake bidders are almost always a true give-away.

thats a clean guitar probably as close as Ive seen that would fool most people. still a flaky looking auction but the guitar is looking good

thats kinda scary most usually scream fake and I don't have sympathy for people who don't look at what there buying but that guitar wouldn't rate as a fake to most the rosewood neck is the only obvious issue

I told him it was a fake and asked him if anyone else had contacted him telling him it was a fake.

This is his response.

Hey,

No, no one has said a word, Now this is a custom paitn job,

not a Custom shop guitar. And that's exactly what my auction

says. "Custom shop quilt top" that is all one frase. Plus I have

had 4 gibson customs and everyone of them match up fine, The

"Gibson" logo changes from time to time, but that is because

they are all hand mad, or manufactured. Like sometimes the "o"

in Gibs"o"n is closed sometimes it is not. And the font is too

large... REALLY. I think you are wrong sir.

What is TRC? And the serial number states that it was actually

the 2005 and it was the 17th guitar pressed for that day. The

trust rod cover has 2 screws the gibson logo is straight.. Please

stop harassing me. I know what I payed for this peace and I

know what should come out of it. "02005517"

Thanks for your time,

-Brandon

Hello my friends. I am the winner of Brandon's counterfeit Ebay auction. I have a huge collection of high-end Gibson's and got so complacent about my buying that I did not spot this fake. Shame on me. I wish to thank all the Ebayers who alerted me before I paid. I reported this to Gibson last night right after the auction ended. I also reported it to Ebay. Ebay suggested I report it to the authorities also. Check out "www.mymusia.com" . There you can find this same guitar, same pictures (just inverted), along with the same serials on a foreign fake $250 Gibson Les Paul. The Ebay auction number is: 180219830611

What i dont get is why this *** would say "i know what iu paid.. " and that kind of stuff... He knows he is trying to rip someone off, so the least you could expect is for him to simply avoid starting an argument with someone that, for all he knows, knows a lot about gibsons.

Ive seen a lot of auctions of this kind of guitars, and when you send the seller a message, he usually ends the auction and waits one or two days to republish it... i dont care about this kind of seller.

But the kind that goes up and tells you "he knows how much he paid, and he owns a gazzillion high end gibsons and you (you sorry *** that have never seen a quallity item in your life) dont have a clue about what a gibson is, and THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT because they are hand made..." this kind of animal, is the one i hate most and i wouldnt mind to go hunting this kind of animal that is more common everyday, in fact i would pay a lot for the opportunity of hunting them and and using their ears for a necklace.

Sorry if this disturbs any of you in any kind of way, but i hate this kinid of people.

This is exactly why I dont like to buy anything of ebay. This may be sad, but I just assume that you are trying to rip me off. I assume that you are unethical and only have your interests at heart. And this keeps me cautious and alert. What about that guy on this forum who traded a Classic for what he thought was a Custom? Right away, I would assume there was something wrong because a Custom is a high-end model that people seem to love and the Classic is less popular than the Standard and is very hit-and-miss with its owners. And the Custom was a fake. Is this unfortunate? Yes. Is this a surprise to me? Absolutely not.

Buying or trading guitars from someone you know is one thing because you probably have a feel for whether not he's a slimeball or not. And you have recourse if something is/goes wrong (i.e. drive to his house and whoop his ***). Buy something from a complete stranger on ebay, and you're screwed. My advice is that if you are an expert on LPs, ebay may be ok. But if you're like me, stay away from it and buy only from authorized dealers.

Call me a jerk, but I don't really have any sympathy for people who get ripped off. Life has shown me over and over again that people aren't nice and that if something seems to good to be true, it usually is.

can you believe this stupid *** has his number and "messenger help" direction in the page? i really hate this people.

And another thing... some of the guitars look really good, so i wonder, why not have their own brand? they could compete with a lot of lower end guitars... and make even more money... why this urge to rip inocents of?

Another thing, i just lmfao looking at the "double neck" they have there... it is like they didnt even bothered to look at the picture of a gibson double neck... they just made them and put gibson les paul in a really weird way on the headstock! take a look at them please... you will laugh your @sses off too...

I know what you mean. It is totally unbelieveable! I asked Brandon where he got his pics from and to call me and these are his replys:

#1 ---Hey, I can't physically talk for the next couple of day, I got

my wisdom teeth pulled on tues. I tried to txt message you back

but I guess your phone doesn't support that.

#2--- Hey again,

I google imaged les paul custom and searched until I saw

what I had. That's why one of them looks doctored because

mine did not have the custom shop logo on it. I found a page

that had the same finish and other specs that matched up.

But I am very sorry if I have misled anyone. Not trying to do that

at all. Enjoy the day and I am sorry this all went down like this.
