Had to share this video: Free - "Alright Now" live

My fellow Free lovers, I heartily recommend the Free Forever DVD. (excuse the commercial link please). It contains all the known footage of Free - and there is suprisingly little. Still it adds up to about two hours worth, including great Isle of Wight footage of Free at their peak (right after Fire and Water - with All Right Now - broke big.)

Kossoff was the freakin' MAN...just ask Angus!

That's still one of my favorite covers to play, to honor ol' Paul.

And yes, Jesse, Rodgers probably DID have sex with a microphone or two in his day.

God, I want to hear something new that sounds even remotely similar to the classics.

And FYI, the classics are older than me. ROFL

I think the industry fat cats would be surprised just how well it would sell.

I have been to local clubs on the Detroit circuit and I will tell you what, some of the best music I have ever heard is being played by bands that the record companies simply toss to the side for a teen with painted nails, gummy hair and a commercial sound.

I have spent more money for music that was Home Brew recorded by a band that really has what it takes, but will never be heard outside of local clubs than I have for any commercial music ever.

EDIT: How in the world is "The most well known city in Michigan" a censored word? lol

Kudos to you, man - support your local bands! While it's a shame that those bands might not reach a wider audience, I think it's a real testament to the power that musicians have today for being able to record a quality product and promote and sell it themselves. I don't hate the record companies - they serve a purpose and that purpose is to promote product to a larger audience via giant distribution channels - but I think it's awesome that anyone can make a living on their own without them as long as their music is good.
