jdgm Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Her name is Roxane Elfasci and the execution of this piano classic is one of the most amazing pieces of guitar playing I have ever seen. How long must she have practiced this.....check out the harmonics. Flawless.
Dub-T-123 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Around the 2 minute mark I was getting the chills. Completely mesmerizing and beautiful. Thanks for posting
merciful-evans Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Lovely! I think the arrangement would have taken most of the time & effort. Less so the practice.
uncle fester Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I don't have much experience appreciating classical guitar, but if that's considered classical guitar - i'm a big fan. well done.
Karloff Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 well she's no Jess Greenberg, but pretty darn good ...
Marky Forrest Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I was spellbound listening to this wonderful guitar performance of a great piano classic.
jaxson50 Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Wow! Simply fantastic, And she already has critics comparing her to others or saying the piece was too simple, if you can do better, post it.
zigzag Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Impressionism, whether in painting or music, really resonates with me.
G Mac Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 She's really good! A beautiful rendition of Claire de Lune! Into the favorites she goes! Check out Ana Vidovic...my favorite performance of Asturias! Asturias by Albeniz.
Tman Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 What an amazing guitar player. I saw an 8 fret stretch. More than Andy Summers.

And even if they did, why try to steer it into something competitive?

jdgm Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 Notice that she is not holding the weight of the guitar; a very good idea - it is obviously on a stand or some sort of cradle which holds it completely still, in order to accurately get those harmonics.

This is actually really interesting. When I record myself playing acoustic I can always hear my shirt touching the guitar and basically every little movement. I didn’t notice any handling noise in this video. Ive seen Steve Howe (one of my idols) playing acoustic held on a stand as well

I once seriously considered wearing a full face motorcycle helmet to remedy that.
Dub-T-123 Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I was listening to a tape op interview and one guy was talking about recording Don McLean (I think) and said he cut a hole in a sheet of plexiglass and stuck Don’s head through it. Then he had a mic below the sheet for the guitar and a mic above the sheet for vocals. The idea was that he had to do a ton of edits and couldn’t have bleed. Kinda like a dog cone

That being said, this young lady is a remarkable artist.

Her position is more like that of a cello player, this position gives the player much greater access to the upper fretboard as you are not bending the wrist and arm around the body. The emphasis is keeping the wrist and hand linear.
