Gibson Jumbo "Star Guitar" 185

This looks like a rare custom-shop Gibson acoustic guitar to me.  A) At 11 days on the market and under $1300, why hasn't this thing been bought?  B) The seller is a 0-feedback Reverb seller, whose user name is literally "0".  They appear to be accepting Reverb payments, so the money most likely won't be disbursed until the guitar is delivered.  Reverb can claw-back the money if the guitar is not "as described", so is it likely that fear of the seller is keeping it from selling?  I just bought an HP635w, so I'd have to return the guitar I just bought to get it, but... dang!

That would be a Starburst studio from the 90s.. .. at 1300 that would be about what they sold for new.  Gibson made I believe 3 versions..

They're not THAT rare...it's a Star that you're looking at, the Starburst was the more uncommon one (solid maple top, back and sides, beautiful but rather thin sounding), but the Star was a better sounding all-rounder and they made more of them.

They were something of a standard mid-'90s stage acoustic, usually with Fishman Prefix barn door style electronics, decent sounding and looking, functional and pretty.

I've used a couple of them as loaners for live shows, I've enjoyed them but they're not something that has had me rushing to eBay to seek out and buy. Very much a particular guitar for a particular player and something of an acquired taste visually. Jorma Kaukkonen was involved in the design of the Starburst/Star line as I recall, and they have DNA in the later J185CE and J185 Blues King (not to be confused with the L-00 Blues King!) Models.

If you love the look, chances are you won't be disappointed by the sound, they're balanced and solid.
