10db Boost 9V battery wires off

Hi,

I have a Gibson Les Paul Trad Pro III that has the 10db boost on the neck tone pot when pushed up.  The 9V battery compartment i guess is the powersource for this and the only reason for the battery?  Both wires were off mine when i got it so im trying to solder to get that feautre working.  It has a black wire connected to the output jack and a red wire that goes to the pot.  Does anyone know is the red the positive and black negative??  I know its probably obvious but this will be my first guitar solder rewire job.

Thanks,

Paul
