Speed knob falling off

I know this has been discussed before, but I came up with nothing in my search.

 

What's the best way to spread the metal prongs open a little, without damaging it, so my tone knob will stay on?

I use a small flat head screwdriver.

If they are aluminum posts, be real careful 'cos they do snap real quick, but if they're brass you've got a little more give and they're probably better tracking pots.

Otherwise ask your honey to squeeze harder
