guitar_randy
Pretty little photo. My guess is fake. I see no trap inlays, but I suppose it could be a model with dots. It doesn't by the photo look to be an archtop, almost looks flat
Carbonite
I am not well versed in all the models, so I am probably wrong. What stands out to me is the fact that it has bindings with dot inlays. And the first thing I noticed was the fact that there isn't a bridge. Just a tailpiece. (Or is that a bridge with no tailpiece?) lol I am going with fake. Thundergod
All of the above can be found on real gibsons... the only thing that can prove it fake is the ______ and it can't be noticeable on such a small pic... if I were on the hunt for a used guitar (which I never am) I would ask for better pics, if the seller wont give them then I wont buy from him. If you do post another pic, take one of the side of the neck... I'd like to see the neck wood... :) By the way... I think it's a real gibson... bryvincent
It An Orville by Gibson $149 at Best Buy. its actually a "Maestro by Gibson" "Single Cutaway Carvetop". http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Divisions/Maestro/Electrics/Single%20Cutaway%20Carvetop/ technically, its not a Les Paul but its a real Gibson product. But it has a pickguard and the ones on the site don't. Why would someone try and add on to such a cheap guitar? By the way he's asking $50, I'm just researching it a little. Before I get lectured- I have my own playing preferences, and a friend trying to start likes a les paul due to some hype. I'm just trying to make sure I know what I'm getting. I got to play a robot les paul, I really wasn't impressed. It sits akwardly due to the les paul shape and I had to use a strap. It's kind of far back when over your leg. I prefer guitars with a shape that sit comortably with me when playing. The tone wasn't that different either. I heard people say les pauls had infinte sustain, and were completely amazing. They seemed to be bright, but weren't something completely out there. I also don't like SGs. I do like xplorers, and the flying v meeting as one to form the typical dime body (they need a deeper cutaway on the lower horn!!). The only thing I like about gibsons, they have finished necks on almost everything. If the xplorer had just a little deeper cutaway on the lower horn it would be perfect. If you don't like Gibsons (apart from the finished neck), why are you even looking at a Les Paul (Gibson/Maestro/Whatever)?

Did you also play the Robot LP for your friend as well? I'm really not sure I understand the purpose of this thread. +1 to what AXE said in regards to being tired of these fake LP threads. Thundergod
He is asking for 50 bucks? Then why are you loosing our time man? It's not like he is asking 3K and saying it is a reisue or a one of a kind... at 50 bucks who cares what it is? I've sent more on firewood... At the price it most surely is a "maestro by gibson" that is their "learning line". I've spotted some ignorants listing them as gibsons locally... of course in the description most of them say its a maestro by gibson.
