MikeNull
What is the best way to go about getting this guitar? Do they even make this any more? '68 RI Custom? Should I order it custom? I want a fat neck with '57 classics and a flame that nice. How much will that run me?
jchabalk
i'm guessing 10-12? someone else may know better EDIT: 8-
Jammer
I'm not sure if that is a Gibson? the fret board inlays are wrong & looking at the one at 12th fret makes me think it's one of the guitars built by those guys that used to work for Gibson and formed their own company....I forget what their company name is. RichCI
It's a Gibson Les Paul Custom Signature. There's one on Ebay with a "Buy It Now" of $4,500 or "Make Offer." http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350099483667
LPDEN
One of these had been traded into an area local shop near me about 2 years ago. IIRC, It had a some play wear on it but nothing that I think stood out as abuse or real damage. I recall it was being sold in the high $3's. It looked cool, but I never played it. It's long gone though as I haven't seen it there for some time.
macacada
If I'm not mistaken that's a 68 reissue with a flame maple top. That guitar has everything you're looking for but the big fat neck, I'm pretty sure it has the slim tapered 60's style neck. That guitar will set you back close to 4 G's. If you go custom shop you can probably double that.
RichCI
Well, the article where the image is from states... No photo would do this instrument justice. The black pickup surrounds' date=' black knobs and multiple binding suggests a Les Paul Custom. In fact, this is a Les Paul Signature with a flame maple top finished in antique natural that has darkened over time to a light amber color.[/quote'] Image location: http://www.sweetwater.com/feature/technotes/issue13-good-wood/images/LP-Signature.jpg Article location: http://www.sweetwater.com/feature/technotes/issue13-good-wood/

There's one on Ebay with a "Buy It Now" of $4' date='500 or "Make Offer." http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350099483667 It's the same exact guitar as the one in the pic above! Huh? pippy
What is the best way to go about getting this guitar? If it's the look alone that you are after then it would be possible to buy any s/h figured-maple-top - CSB say - Custom and have it stripped and refinished with an amber-coloured lacquer. Would improve most of them.......:- 12th fret marker excepted.

I didn't get that impression from the article that mentions the guitar; they referred to it as "a" Les Paul Signature.

MikeNull
Yeah, I don't know about you guys, but I never buy a guitar off Ebay. I always have to have it in my hands first. So, it's looking like I can expect to pay anywhere from $2k-$10k? Damn, that's a lot of money for a guitar. Well, looks like it wasn't meant to be! I can barely afford new strings at the moment! Thanks for all of your input.
