Karloff Posted September 26, 2019 Report Share Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) treated myself recently. got a 2019 Fender Performer Strat in Seafoam green & traded in the Fender Hot Rod deluxe I got a couple of months ago for a Blackstar Club 40. pretty happy with both. the trick with bringing the Blackstar home was I hadn't gotten around to telling my wife about the Fender amp ... she got over it. I got a small 5 watt Blackstar a few years ago for a practice amp (carry in one hand easily, and loud enough for playing with the drummer), and it did overdriven/distorted tones really well. But it doesn't do clean all that well even though I changed it's one lonely valve (tube) to allow a little more headroom. Since I already had four Gibson electrics with humbuckers, I had planned to buy either a Tele or a Strat to have something with single-coils. However, the guitar shop had just received a 2007 Gibson ‘67 SG Special Re-Issue (GOW) with P-90s.
