treated myself recently. got a 2019 Fender Performer Strat in Seafoam green & traded in the Fender Hot Rod deluxe I got a couple of months ago for a Blackstar Club 40. pretty happy with both.  the trick with bringing the Blackstar home was I hadn't gotten around to telling my wife about the Fender amp ... she got over it.

Sounds like you've married the right woman.  Does  she have a sister?

That's the trick, you have to tell the wife that you sold one to buy the other, just don't mention the loss that might of happened...

Very nice.  Congrats.  I really need to break down and buy either a Tele and/or Strat someday.

tx,  I've had more than a few Strats over the years but have been playing nothing but Gibsons for the last 12 yrs. I've never owned a Tele for some reason. someday ...

Congrats, Karloff!

My wife is okay with anything I buy. The thing is, I don't spend a lot on gear these days, and when I do buy something for me, I usually get something for her, or encourage her to buy something, of roughly equal value.  Win/win.

Nice looking seafoam - congratulations.

Does the Blackstar amp you got have good clean tones?  I got a small 5 watt Blackstar a few years ago for a practice amp (carry in one hand easily, and loud enough for playing with the drummer), and it did overdriven/distorted tones really well.  But it doesn't do clean all that well even though I changed it's one lonely valve (tube) to allow a little more headroom.  Just wondering if the bigger ones with more power allow good clean as well as overdriven tones?

yes. really nice cleans. it's switchable from 40 to 4 watts.  the 40 watt setting has very nice cleans.

Back in 2007, I was shopping for another guitar.  Since I already had four Gibson electrics with humbuckers, I had planned to buy either a Tele or a Strat to have something with single-coils.  However, the guitar shop had just received a 2007 Gibson ‘67 SG Special Re-Issue (GOW) with P-90s.  After hearing the P-90s, the Fender purchase went to the back burner and has remained there ever since.  One of these days....
