Hunting down illegal immigrants

There are a few members on this forum who will get a kick out of this:

You can watch live web cams of high traffic sites for illegal immigrants along our southern borders. If you see someone crossing the board can call the local cops to inform them.

So get your guns out, grab a six-pack of Lone Star, and fire up your computers...

Blue Moon, are you nuts?

There ain't no way in HELL I'm getting involved in that.

Lone Star?

Get better beer (Budweiser, in bottles) and I'm in!

:-)

Actually, I don't drink much.

Never when I'm handling guns.

Anybody in here have Italian heritage? German? French? Irish? The KKK re-formed in Howell MI to lynch your forbears & drive them out of the USA.

Before WW2, all these ethnicities were looked upon the way y'all are talking about people south of our border. Most people's response is: but my forbears were LEGAL immigrants. If they got to the US before ~1890, that's because there were NO immigration laws/no such thing as illegal immigrants. Ever since, people have been trying to rig the system to exclude various ethnic groups.

I think you might have misconstrued the post. It was a slight dig at some of our more far-right members.

I am a nationalized citizen...so I have more than a lot of sympathy for immigrants.

Not all of us "right wingers" hate immigrants. My best friend growing up was Hispanic and his father was a Mexican immigrant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcario_Garcia who received the Congressional Medal of Honor during WWII. Immigrants from many nations have fought and died for American ideals, immigrants from many nations helped build this country.

The problem I have with many of today's immigrants, is there unwillingness or inability to incorporate into the "fabric" of America. When my mom's relatives immigrated to America from Germany in the 1850s they learned to speak English as soon as they could, they became Americans. They learned our history, our language and our culture and worked to fit in. My mom's grandfather served in the Union Army during the Civil War, after the war he became a banker in Missouri. Immigrants used to come to America to become American. Today, it seems that many immigrants from Mexico come to America to work, but they send their money "home" to Mexico and they plan to return to Mexico once they've made enough money. Two of the largest cash flow streams for Mexico are money sent by Mexicans back to family in Mexico and money for illegal drugs sent to the Mexican cartels.

We print government papers; Voter registration, Voter polls, unemployment forms, etc, in Spanish and English. We require US government employees in many places to be bi-lingual, we don't even have an official language here in America. Where I grew up, in Houston, there are whole sections of town that have street signs in Chinese, Vietnamese or Spanish.

If people want to immigrate to the US, they should be required to learn our language, our history and our culture. Immigrants should want to be Americans. I realize (for the sake of Bluemoon) that some of what I say is generalized and that not all immigrants refuse to be assimilated. But we have a problem here in America, we are losing our culture. I don't want to stop immigration, I don't want to hunt down illegal aliens, I don't want all immigrants to go home and I'm not a racist. I want to have my country open to people that want to come here and participate in the society.

We need to build a fence or a wall, whether it's a physical or virtual wall or some combination of the two. We need to seal the porous border and get a handle on who's coming here and why they are coming. We need to put troops on the border to protect American citizens and American interests. We need to fix our immigration policy. Today, the immigration policy makes it easier for skilled and educated immigrants to come here than it does for unskilled immigrants to come. We do not have the resources to take care of everyone that has a hard time in their own country. It may not be fair, but it's reality.

Mexico has enough natural resources to become a first world country, they have enough hard working people and natural wealth to build a great country of their own.

We need to find a way to get Mexico to pull themselves out of the toilet so that Mexican people want to stay in their own country.

We prefer to be called Native Americans...

Even that is somewhat of the same thing...Indians came from the explorers looking for a new route to the far east and thinking they landed in the Indies (or something to that effect)...Native Americans...they didn't know they were "Americans" since that term came about from Amerigo Vespucci' date=' the Italian explorer.

Most indigenous native persons I've talked to prefer to be called what their tribe they are from, like Navajo (though they refer to themselves as the Dine').

I guess it doesn't really matter if you call them Native Americans or by tribal name...it's definitely more accurate than "Indians" (since they aren't from the Indies, or India).

This is one of my favorites...my wife and I picked up some t-shirts that have the same comment with a different picture on it.
