Epsomsalt
Hi, My friends father died recently and I am looking for some information about his Banjo which was presented to him on his retirement. I attach some images in th ehope that someone can give me some more information about the instrument and also let us have some idea of its value as my friend intends to sell it. So far we have been told "this is most likely a Gibson “Parts” Banjo. The Factory Order Number suggests it dates from c1923, so is the early style of Tone ring. The original decal would confirm that the rim is original, probably to a tenor banjo. The neck looks to be a reasonable quality, but the Resonator and flanges are not original. It was most likely conceived as an open back.

A 5 string of this sort probably sounds great! Hope you get an informed opinion soon.
