KarenS
I just received my dad's Gibson ES 150 guitar from my older brother. It has been its case since my dad died in 1968. He was the only owner. I see stamped on the inside of it the number 4488 25. I assume that references the year it was manufactured. Anyone have any idea what year it is. I know he played it for many years. It has trapezoid inlays. I don't think anything was ever done to it, and I know it's been in its original case for the past 51 years. IanHenry
Hi Karen, This might help you: https://www.guitarinsite.nl/serienummers-gibson_eng.php I put your serial number in and it suggested 1954, but if you want to make sure, you can always contact Gibson, they are usually quite helpful. Twang Gang
Cool - we'd love to see some photos of that guitar if you have time.
j45nick
My sources have that FON as mid-1950. It should have trapezoid fretboard inlays and a bound fretboard. That model was discontinued in 1956. It's great to have a vintage guitar with a known family history.
