NGD - Not a Gibson though!

Bought this on a bit of a whim - saw the neck and it really cried out to me. Lovely looking guitar, photo definitely does not do it justice!

PRS SE Custom 24 in grey/charcoal quilt.

Edit: I should say, it's a 'roasted maple neck' - it's very dark in person and almost looks like it has been played for years already - I guess that is what they are aiming for with the torrefication process.

Very cool!  What's the first songs to lay into, and which amp to pair it with?

A little bit of The Lemon Song - Led Zeppelin and Fly By Night by Rush were the first tunes out of it 🙂

So far, only had a quick noodle on my little Vox solid state so I will have a proper go on the Blues Junior and Marshall DSL15C later on tonight

Its much more than going for an aged look.

Heat treating maple is a great idea.  First the moisture is almost all removed, then a small controlled quantity is put back. This does several things.

1/ It helps stabilize the wood. Less movement means fewer sets ups.

2/ It will lighten (in weight) the wood.

3/ It removes the need to encase the entire neck in heavy lacquer. So you get a nicer & more natural feel.

I have a torrefied maple fingerboard (on a maple neck) on my 339 Studio. Its one of the main reasons I choose that model. Feels hard like ebony, and will stand up to the abuse of my poor technique!
