Gibson Mandolin #9876

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have my Grandfather's Gibson mandolin with the number 9876 in the sound box.  I am hoping that someone can tell me something about it.

Thank you, Barbara

Hi    It is a Kel Kroyden   The body is a Gibson. Everything else is not.   The body is based off of the A00 Gibson. https://www.ebay.com/itm/GIBSON-MADE-1930-KEL-KROYDEN-MANDOLIN-MODEL-KK-20/223739744349?hash=item3417ed905d:g:xDIAAOSwRu5dxF75

If these were made in the Kalamazoo plant, I wonder if this is a leftover after the KK brand  was folded, and Gibson adopted a "waste not, want not" philosophy and branded it as a Gibson.

The Gibson logo certainly looks correct. Did they have employee instruments back then?
